Costa Rica, who finished bottom of Group E, failed to advance to the round of 16 at this summer's World Cup. During the tournament, they played matches in Samara, St. Petersburg and Nizhny Novgorod.

"We were very happy to come here, we were welcomed just magnificently. Everyone was very friendly, everyone greeted us, wished good luck... I felt great support both outside the arenas and at the stadiums. I would also like to highlight security, which was simply at the super high level," Oviedo said.

Costa Rica drew 2-2 with Switzerland in their last game on Wednesday.

"We made every effort today, but it was not easy. Still, we played against the top fifth or sixth team. But the game was equal... Now we need to think about future, about the [2022] World Cup in Qatar, we need to try to qualify for it," Oviedo added.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup kicked off on June 14 and will continue until July 15, with the matches being played in 11 cities across Russia.
