Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic arrived on Saturday in the Russian city of Sochi, which will host the quarter-final match of the World Cup between the Russian and Croatian national teams, press service of the Krasnodar Territory’s administration said in a statement.
According to the statement, the Croatian president was received by the region’s Governor Veniamin Kondratyev.
"We are glad to welcome you on the Kuban soil. There will be a very important match, I am sure that both teams will perform well and play a beautiful game. Hopefully, you will able not only to visit the match but also assess comfort and infrastructure of our resort," Kondratyev said.
The match between Russia and Croatia will start at 9:00 p.m. local time. Russia and Croatia qualified for the quarter-final match having beaten in penalty shootouts Spain and Denmark respectively.
