Croatia defender Sime Vrsaljko said Monday that his team were preparing to play against Argentina and not just against their captain Lionel Messi, in their next World Cup match.
"[Lionel] Messi is surely one of the best players in the world, but the coaches have prepared us for facing the whole Argentine team, not just Messi. Eleven players take the field. Our 11 players will try to do themselves justice and defeat Argentina," Vrsaljko told journalists.
Croatia, who beat Nigeria 2-0 in Kaliningrad on Saturday, will next face Argentina on Thursday and Iceland on 26 June.
"We have a fantastic atmosphere [in the team]... We always support each other, think positively and look ahead," Vrsaljko added.
