Denmark head coach Age Hareide said on Tuesday that Denmark achieved their goal of reaching the World Cup knockout stage, following their 0-0 draw with France on Tuesday.
"We needed just a point, we were playing against the world's best attacking team, so it was silly to open up space [for them]. We were playing for the result and we reached it... We decided that we don't need to attack today. Everyone worked well today and I am satisfied with the discipline today on the pitch, " Areide said.
He added that their Group C was very tough and Peru, who only finished with three points, perhaps played the best football of all the teams in the pool.
"Football is a progressive process. You need to change players, change tactics. All this is necessary to win. We reached the next round and everyone played very well and were helping each other," Hareide said.
The match between Denmark and France took place at the 78,000-seater Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow on Tuesday.
France had been guaranteed a place in the knockout stage before the match, while a draw was enough for Denmark to eliminate Australia and Peru from the tournament.
