Denmark did not play to the best of their ability in the match against Peru, but there was no lack of effort, forward Yussuf Poulsen said on Saturday.
Denmark beat Peru 1-0 at the Mordovia Arena in Saransk earlier on Saturday, with Poulsen scoring the only goal and he was subsequently named Man of the Match.
“I think we put everything into this game that we had. It was not our best, it was not our best game… but I think we fought very-very well, and gave it everything we had until the last minute,” Poulsen told journalists at the post-match conference.
Both Peru and Denmark are set to play with Australia and France in Group C.
