France head coach Didier Deschamps said on Tuesday that his side’s goalless draw with Denmark was "a little bit boring."
The match between France and Denmark took place at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow on Tuesday and ended in a first goalless draw of the World Cup in Russia, while fans jeered the teams in the last few minutes of the match.
"Mission accomplished, first place [in the group] is the most important. The match itself was a little bit boring, Denmark was fine with such result. They played well defensively, but as the match progressed, the became even more cautious. Maybe they learned the results of the parallel match [between Australia and Peru]. Denmark is not an easy team, they are tight in defense, they create chances... We didn't want any risks. We reached the result we wanted," Deschamps said.
He added that he rested some players in the match against Denmark on purpose in order to have fully rested team to choose from in the knockout stage.
France had been guaranteed a place in the knockout stage before the match, while a draw was enough for Denmark to eliminate Australia and Peru from the tournament.
