FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee took into account, when fining Croatia coaching assistant Ognjen Vukojevic, the decision by the Croatian Football Federation to suspend him from his duties at the World Cup in Russia, FIFA's Head of Sustainability and Diversity Federico Addiechi said on Wednesday.
"It's impossible for FIFA to remove a person from the country. What is in our power is to withdraw an accreditation in certain cases. But in this particular case, the fine was determined taking into account the fact that Croatian Federation had already decided to suspend [Vukojevic] from his duties," Addiechi said.
After Croatia beat Russia 4-3 on penalties in the World Cup quarter-finals, a video appeared on social media showing Croatia defender Domagoj Vida chanting "Glory to Ukraine!" and Vukojevic saying "This is a victory for Dynamo [Kiev] and Ukraine."
The Croatian Football Federations later suspended Vukojevic from his duties at the World Cup, while the FIFA Disciplinary Committee fined him $15,000 for unsporting behavior.
Vida avoided a ban and is eligible to play in the semi-final against England later on Wednesday.
