The "dramatic" 2-1 victory over Sweden has united Germany's World Cup squad in Russia, Germany forward Timo Werner said on Monday.
Defending champions Germany, who are second in Group F with three points, will play South Korea at the Kazan Arena on Wednesday. The South Koreans are bottom of their group without a point after their first two matches.
"It was a unique game against Sweden... This dramatic victory united us as a team even more. A lot of negative things were said about us before the game, and much was fair. In particular, it was said that we lacked the team spirit. We showed that we were ready to fight for each other during the game against Sweden," Werner told journalists.
The 22-year-old, who is playing at the World Cup for the first time, added that while scoring was important, the team's results came first.
"Of course, if I can score, it will be great, but it is my first big tournament and I'm not fixed on scoring goals. It is important to advance at the tournament," Werner said.
