Russia midfielder Alan Dzagoev said on Thursday that he hoped the team's performance in their first-ever World Cup quarter-final would not disappoint their fans.
Having beaten 2010 World Cup winners Spain on penalties on their way to the last eight, the hosts will take on Croatia in Sochi on Sunday.
"I think Croatia are upset that they will play against us because we are the host nation. The whole of Russia will be supporting us. I hope we don't disappoint our fans," said Dzagoev.
He added that Russia were adjusting their style after playing to nullify Spain's attacking talent in their last match.
"Everything depends on the opponent. Spain can take control over any team, so we could not play in any other way," said the 28-year-old.
"Closer to the match against Croatia, (head coach) Cherchesov will tell us how to play. I hope we'll prove that we can play football in the upcoming match," he added.
