Russia forward Artem Dzyuba said on Monday that 3-0 loss to Uruguay at the World Cup could have come at the right time.
Russia finished second in Group A after suffering their first World Cup defeat at the hands of Uruguay 3-0 in Samara on Monday.
"We couldn't win today and there were many reasons for this. It is difficult to beat such a team. It was a good test against a top team. The next opponent will be Spain or Portugal. Maybe it is for the better that the loss came at this time," Dzyuba told journalists.
Russia will play either Spain, Portugal or Iran in the last 16.
