MOSCOW, June 2 (Sputnik) - England beat Nigeria 2-1 in a friendly match at Wembley Stadium in London on Saturday ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
England midfielder Gary Cahill scored the opener seven minutes in and forward Harry Kane doubled team's advantage in the 39th minute. Nigeria's Alex Iwobi pulled one goal back for the visitors two minutes after the half time break.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup will take place in Russia for the first time from June 14 to July 15 in 11 host cities.
England were drawn in Group G where they will face Tunisia, Panama and Belgium while Nigeria will play Argentina, Iceland and Croatia in Group D.
