According to the channel, the Three Lions took a 48-hour top-secret trip to a commando training center in Lympstone, Devon in June 2017. The players underwent grueling military training with the Royal Marines, including survival and endurance courses such as spending a night living in the woods and searching for their own food.

They team also had all of their personal belongings, including cellphones, taken away and they were wearing military uniform.

“We wanted to expose the guys to an elite environment with one of the elite forces in the world. We wanted them to see that there's another world out there,” head coach Gareth Southgate said.

He added that this kind of a training helped improve the bond between the England players ahead of the tournament.

England advanced to the semi-final where they are playing against Croatia.
