Egypt captain Essam El Hadary said Thursday that he did not feel cold in Yekaterinburg, where Egypt will play their first match of the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup on Friday.
"Of course, I don't feel cold in Yekaterinburg, we've played in different weather conditions... I've won many prizes, but the fact that I'll play at this World Cup gives me incredible emotions," the 45-year-old goalkeeper told journalists.
Egypt will kick off their World Cup campaign against two-time champions Uruguay at Yekaterinburg’s 35,000-seater stadium on Friday, with the temperature expected to be below 59 degrees Fahrenheit.
El Hadary also said that all of his teammates shared the same goal and any victory would be considered their common achievement.
"Our team are ready [to face] any rivals... We are in good shape and are ready to oppose any player. Each of us is ready to show his best level," El Hadary added.
The World Cup will get underway later on Thursday, with the final set to be played on 15 July. The matches will take place at 12 stadiums across 11 cities. Egypt will face hosts Russia and Saudi Arabia in their other two Group A matches after taking on Uruguay on Friday.
