MOSCOW, May 31 (Sputnik) - Former Brazil head coach Carlos Alberto Parreira, who led his squad to winning the 1994 FIFA World Cup, will head the Technical Study Group (TSG) at the upcoming tournament in Russia, responsible for World Cup awards, FIFA said on Thursday.
“Brazilian coaching legend Carlos Alberto Parreira will be leading FIFA's Technical Study Group at the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia. Having been a part of every tournament since England 1966, the TSG will be applying their considerable footballing expertise to analyze the games during the competition,” FIFA said in a statement published on their official website.
Apart from Parreira, the TSG will include former Nigeria striker Emmanuel Amunike, former head coach of Mexico, Costa Rica and the United States Bora Milutinovic, former Italy defender Alessandro Nesta, former Scotland head coach Andy Roxburgh and former Netherlands striker Marco van Basten.
The TSG will be responsible for deciding the winners of the Golden, Silver and Bronze Boots for the leading goalscorers, the Golden, Silver and Bronze Balls for the best players, the Golden Glove Award for the best goalkeeper, as well as the Young Player Award for the best player born on or after January 1, 1997, and the Fair Play Award.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup will be held in Russia for the first time from June 14 to July 15, with the games set to take place in 11 cities across the country.
