MOSCOW, May 31 (Sputnik) - Former Russia forward Sergey Kiryakov told Sputnik Thursday that he hoped to see changes in the national squad for a friendly match against Turkey to be played in Moscow on June 5 ahead of this summer's FIFA World Cup.
Russia lost 1-0 to Austria in their last but one pre-World Cup friendly in Innsbruck on Wednesday.
"I hope to see some changes in the squad for the match against Turkey and I want the team to show more consistent, skillful football. Unfortunately, we can't play great in the attack, dominate or show personal skills, that's why we should focus on what we are more or less good at, the defense. We have no right for mistakes at the home tournament," Kiryakov said.
Russia's first-ever FIFA World Cup will take place from June 14 to July 15 in 11 host cities, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Volgograd, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Saransk, Rostov-on-Don, Yekaterinburg, and Sochi.
