Russia defender Mario Fernandes said on Thursday that the team feel able to defeat Spain in their World Cup round of 16 match thanks to the support they feel from their country.
“We expect to defeat Spain because the entire country will root for us," he said.
"There are no invincible teams, Germany is already an example at this World Cup."
He added that former Russia head coach Guus Hiddink attended their training session on Thursday to wish the team good luck in the upcoming match.
Hiddink managed Russia from 2006 to 2010 and steered the team to the Euro 2008 semi-finals.
