Peru forward Jefferson Farfan has confirmed he will miss his tomorrow night's match against Australia in Sochi.
Farfan was admitted to hospital on Saturday after clashing heads with a teammate in training, and is still there, supported by his mother and children.
He delivered the news tonight on his Instagram account.
"A thousand thanks for so much support, it was a very hard moment that happened on Saturday," wrote the 33 year-old Lokomotiv Moscow star.
"I would give anything to be with my teammates in this last game, but it's impossible for medical reasons, and I can only support them and the coaching staff from the clinic.
"I trust a lot in you, team - I know that you'll give us joy!" he added.
Peru were knocked out of the World Cup after losing their first two Group C games to Denmark and France, but Australia still have a shot at sneaking through after earning a point against Denmark.
The Socceroos will also be forced into a change up top, with Andrew Nabbout still carrying his arm in a sling from an injury sustained against the Danes.
