"I am proud that the motto that we are speaking about 'let's bring football back to FIFA, and FIFA back to football' is something we are living every day," Infantino said during the 68th FIFA Congress.

"It's something we are living every day by having introduced the forward program, a development program which has no comparison in the world, a development program in which we have decided all together to invest four times more than what was happening in the past."

The congress started in Moscow on Wednesday morning, a day before the 2018 FIFA World Cup gets underway in the Russian capital.

The FIFA president added that the organization received around 1,800 development projects from all over the world over the past two years, while there were around 700 projects in the previous 20 years.

"I am proud of what we did to make FIFA an open organization, a democratic organisation, an organisation which participation is not just empty words, but is a fact," Infantino said.

Russia will host its first World Cup from June 14 to July 15, with the fixtures set to be played at 12 stadiums across 11 cities.
