FIFA has sanctioned the Argentinian and Croatian Football Associations for violation of the FIFA Disciplinary Code during their World Cup Group D match, which included a fight in the stadium, FIFA said in a press release on Monday.
Croatia beat Argentina 3-0 on Thursday, ensuring they will advance beyond the group stage and leaving the South American team on the brink of elimination.
Earlier, a video was released on social networks showing Argentina fans hitting a Croatia fan at the stadium.
According to the press release, the Argentinian Football Association was sanctioned with a CHF 105,000 [$106,400] fine and warned about the involvement of Argentinian supporters in fights, throwing objects and homophobic and insulting chants as well as for failing to attend a flash interview after the match.
The Croatian Football Association was sanctioned with a fine of CHF 13,000 [$13,170] for the involvement of Croatian fans in fights and throwing objects during the match.
