FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura said on Saturday night that Russia should be "proud" of their performance despite losing to Croatia in the World Cup quarter-finals.
Hosts Russia were eliminated from the tournament, as Croatia beat them on penalties in Sochi on Saturday to advance to the World Cup semi-finals, where they will face England. The match ended 2-2 after extra time.
"Russia, despite your loss tonight in Sochi you should be proud of your performance," Samoura posted on her official Twitter account.
Croatia will next face England at Moscow’s Luzhinki Stadium on Wednesday in the semi-finals.
