"Chess tables are traditionally set up in Pushkin Park in Saransk in the summertime. Saransk Mayor Petr Tultaev has ordered to organize matches between the Saransk team and the World team during the World Cup to give foreign fans a chance to try their hand at chess," the press service said.

Football matches between the Saransk team and the World team or the team of the country playing at the city's Mordovia Arena will be held in the city on match days.

The matches between fans will also be held on the World Cup match days, with four teams having signed up so far.

The 44,000-seater Mordovia Arena will host four group-stage matches in June, including the clash between reigning European champions Portugal and Iran on June 25.
