Four-time Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton said he was proud of England’s team and the whole country after the Three Lions were knocked out of the FIFA World Cup at the semi-final stage, where they lost 2-1 to Croatia.
“I’m so proud of our Boys and to be honest, the whole country," Hamilton posted on his official Twitter page.
"I’ve been inspired by the spirit of our people all coming together during this time. It’s what makes me so proud to be British.
"Let’s hold on to that fighting spirit and stand tall and United. It will come home one day!”
England will now face Belgium in the third place play-off in St. Petersburg on Sunday (AEST).
The 2018 FIFA World Cup kicked off on June 14 and will continue until July 15, with the final between France and Croatia to be held at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium on Monday (AEST).
