Sweden midfielder Emil Forsberg says the hand heart sign he showed after scoring the winning goal for his side during their 1-0 victory over Switzerland at the St. Petersburg Stadium was meant for his wife.
"It is a huge personal success and I am happy with the team’s result. It’s incredible. We did not have many chances, but I am proud of this success I think the entire country is proud of us. And the hand heart I showed after the goal was for my wife," Forsberg told journalists.
He added that the strength of a team is in "believing in what they do," but also "having patience and working hard."
Sweden beat Switzerland 1-0 to reach their first World Cup quarter-final since 1994 and will now face the winners of the Colombia v England game.
