MOSCOW, July 15 (Sputnik) - France head coach Didier Deschamps said on Sunday that he was most proud of his team as they beat Croatia 4-2 to win the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
France secured their second title on Sunday. Deschamps captained his national team to their first triumph at the FIFA World Cup in 1998, where they beat Brazil 3-0 in the final.
"It's a great pleasure for me, I'm personally very proud, but I'm most proud of our guys. Of [forward] Kylian Mbappe who is only 19 years old, for example. In 1998, we had 19-year-old David Trezeguet and Thierry Henry with us. I'm much more proud of my players," Deschamps told journalists.
Mbappe won the FIFA Young Player award at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, which kicked off on June 14 and came to a close on Sunday with 64 games played in 11 cities across Russia.
