MOSCOW, July 4 (Sputnik) - French President Emmanuel Macron may come to Russia if France reach World Cup final, French Ambassador to Russia Sylvie Bermann told Sputnik Wednesday.
βYes, I think if they reach the final, he will come,β Bermann said, adding that the president may also attend the semifinal if France beat Uruguay in the last eight.
The 1998 World Cup winners will take on Uruguay in Nizhny Novgorod on Friday.
On Monday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow was not ruling out the possibility of Macron visiting Russia for the World Cup.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup kicked off on June 14 and will continue until July 15, with the matches being played in 11 cities across Russia.
