Russia midfielder Yurt Gazinskiy said on Thursday that his team should quickly forget about their victory against Saudi Arabia.
Russia beat Saudi Arabia 5-0 in the first match of the tournament at Moscow's 81,000-seater Luzhniki Stadium earlier in the day, with Gazinsky scoring the opening goal.
"Today the dream came true. I have played at the World Cup. This was my childhood dream and this is our home World Cup... We need to understand that there are two group games ahead of us. We need to get the win against Saudi Arabia out of our heads as quickly as possible and get ready for the next matches," the 28-year-old player told journalists.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup will last till 15 July, with the games set to be played at 12 stadiums across 11 Russian cities.
