Germany defender Marvin Plattenhardt said on Sunday that his team were “united” despite the loss to Mexico in their first group-stage match of the 2018 World Cup.
Hirving Lozano scored the only goal of the game in the 35th minute, which means this is the first time since 1982 that Germany have tasted defeat in their opening match of the World Cup.
"Of course, we were hoping for a different outcome and that we would beat Mexico. We had our chances to win today. However, we do everything as a team no matter whether we win or lose. We are a united team," Plattenhardt told journalists.
Germany will next face Sweden on Saturday and South Korea on 27 June.
