Uruguay captain Diego Godin said on Thursday that no Uruguay player would intentionally injure any of their opponents, including Egypt star striker Mohamed Salah.
Earlier on Thursday, Egypt head coach Hector Cuper said that Salah was almost certain to play against Uruguay despite suffering a shoulder injury in the Champions League final at the end of May.
"It is a very weird question. I think it is off the point. I don't think that someone would intentionally injure other players. Anything can happen on the pitch. It is not a good question, no one does it intentionally," Godin told journalists when asked if he would be as tough on the pitch as Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos during his tackle that left Salah injured.
Uruguay will play Egypt in Yekaterinburg on Friday,
