The mayor of Sochi has declared the days on which the city will host matches during the World Cup as official 'days off'.
The decree from mayor Anatoly Pakhomov was signed off on Thursday.
The Fisht Stadium, pictured above, will host games on six days during the month-long tournament - a Monday, a Tuesday, a Friday and three Saturdays.
Australia will play their final group game against Peru in the city on 26 June.
"We recommend heads of all types of organisations operating in Sochi to declare the days of the World Cup matches in the city - June 15, 18, 23, 26, 30 and July 7, 2018 - days off," read a statement from the city's authorities.
The idea is to ensure that facilities supporting the tournament operate properly and transportation services are not overwhelmed during matchdays, thus allowing fans of the Socceroos and other visiting teams to get around with greater ease.
If this type of practice is to become commonplace in busy host cities, FourFourTwo would like to throw its full support behind any bid that may be forthcoming from the Australian Football Federation to host the World Cup in 2030, 2034, 2038 and any or all World Cups thereafter.
