France striker Antoine Griezmann, who was named the man of the match, said on Friday that his team managed to take the game where they wanted it to go in their World Cup quarter-final match against Uruguay.
France beat Uruguay 2-0 in Nizhny Novgorod on Friday to reach the semi-finals of the competition, while Uruguay have been eliminated from the tournament.
"I don't think that we have a style that is set. We have people who know how to manage the game. They know when to stop and when to move forward. Diego [Godin] and [Jose Maria] Gimenez are very strong in the air, so we tried to put tall players up front, and we tried to give them some trouble. We took the game where we wanted it to go," Griezmann told journalists.
France are through to the semi-finals, where they will face the winner of the Brazil-Belgium game, which will be played later on Friday.
