FC Cologne and Germany defender Jonas Hector missed his team's first 2018 FIFA World Cup match against Mexico due to a cold, the team said on Sunday.
"[Jonas] Hector has stayed behind at the team base with a cold. Get well soon!" the team's Twitter post read.
Defending champions Germany lost 1-0 to Mexico on Sunday.
The games of the 2018 FIFA World Cup will be held at 12 stadiums across 11 Russian cities till 15 July.
