Spain must have confidence in their own abilities in the upcoming FIFA World Cup Group B game against Morocco, the team’s head coach Fernando Hierro said on Sunday.
Spain drew their first game against Portugal 3-3 on June 15 and beat Iran 1-0 on Wednesday and currently have four points. They will face Morocco, who have been knocked out of the tournament, in Kaliningrad on Monday.
“We must believe in ourselves, remember in what shape we are and what we are capable of… We need to use every opportunity, we must have confidence in ourselves and in our abilities. We fully believe in our abilities and must think about our own game and not about the opponent,” Hierro told journalists at the pre-match press-conference.
The coach added that it was impossible to predict the result, as “anyone can win.”
“Everyone plays on par at this World Cup, everyone worked and prepared [for it]. I think it is the advantage of our sports that anyone can make a surprise, anyone can win,” Hierro said.
If Spain reach the round of 16, they will face either Russia or Uruguay from Group A.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup kicked off on June 14 and will continue until July 15, with the matches being played in 11 cities across Russia.
