CSKA Moscow and Russia defender Sergei Ignashevich says the UEFA Euro 2008 semi-final was the most memorable match between Russian and Spain in his career.
Russia, who were managed by ex-Socceroos head coach Guus Hiddink at the time, suffered a 3-0 loss at the hands of eventual champions Spain.
The two sides will go head-to-head in the last 16 of the FIFA World Cup on Monday morning, and Ignashevic was asked about his most memorable previous encounters against La Roja.
"I don't reflect on these matches [against Spain], but if I give it a thought, then I'd say it was the Euro 2008 semi-final which we lost. Now I only think of the upcoming game, there's no nostalgia," he said.
