Former Russia head coach Boris Ignatyev told Sputnik Wednesday that it would be easier for Russia to face Portugal than Spain in the Round of 16 at the 2018 World Cup.
Russia are guaranteed a spot in the knockout stage after defeating Saudi Arabia and Egypt in their first two Group A matches and could face Portugal, Spain or Iran in the last 16.
"It would be more difficult for out ream to face Spain than Portugal in the World Cup playoff. I think it's more difficult to predict how Spain players will play, rather than just try to... cope with [Portugal captain] Cristiano Ronaldo," Ignatyev said.
