Manchester City and Belgium defender Vincent Kompany may be ruled out of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia after picking up an injury, the Reuters news agency reported on Sunday.
Kompany sustained a groin injury during a friendly match held between Belgium and Portugal (0-0) on Saturday and left the pitch in the second half.
The 32-year-old, who has been capped for Belgium 77 times, is set to undergo a medical examination to determine whether he will be able to join the squad at the World Cup.
Russia will host its first-ever FIFA World Cup from June 14 to July 15, with Belgium set to face Panama, Tunisia and England in Group G.
