NIZHNY NOVGOROD, June 4 (Sputnik) - Bloggers and journalists from across the globe have visited the Russian city of Saransk, which will host four FIFA World Cup matches this summer, and got a bird's-eye view of the city from a viewpoint at Mordovia State University, the university's press service said on Monday.
"Young people from Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Egypt, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Iran, South Africa and Russia have arrived in the capital of [Russia's Republic of] Mordovia to get to know the culture and the way of life of different ethnic groups in Russia, to see with their own eyes and to describe the city that will host 2018 World Cup matches," the press service said in a statement.
The visit to Saransk was organized by the Russian Federal Agency for Youth Affairs as a part of the International media expedition allowing young people to examine the infrastructure created in the host cities for the World Cup.
A total of 50 bloggers and journalists from 30 countries, aged from 18 to 35, are taking part in the expedition.
Russia will host its first World Cup from June 14 to July 15. The fixtures will be played at 12 stadiums across 11 cities.
Saransk's 45,000-seater Mordovia Arena is set to host four group-stage matches, including a game between reigning European champions Portugal and Iran on June 25.
