On Tuesday Iran became the first foreign World Cup team to set foot in Russia ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, which will get underway on June 14.

Earlier on Wednesday Iran held their first training session at their base camp in Bakovka, just outside Moscow.

“Russia is a very hospitable country, the conditions at the base camp are excellent,” Shojaei told journalists.

Shojaei added that every team in Group B, where Iran have been drawn along with 2010 World Cup winners Spain, reigning European champions Portugal and Morocco, were strong rivals.

“Everything will depend on us and our concentration,” he said.

Iran will play Lithuania in their final pre-World Cup friendly in Moscow on Friday.
