BAKOVKA, June 6 (Sputnik) - Heerenveen and Iran forward Reza Ghoochannejhad said on Wednesday he believed that training at Lokomotiv Moscow's base during the 2018 FIFA World Cup could bring the national team success.
Earlier on Wednesday Iran held their first pre-World Cup training session at Lokomotiv's, Russia's current champions, training ground in Bakovka, just outside Moscow.
"We know that our base is home to Lokomotiv. This season, they were crowned Russian champions. But our result at the World Cup will depend only on us. Though, maybe the champions' base will bring us luck," Ghoochannejhad said.
The World Cup will get underway on June 14, with the matches set to take place in 11 cities across Russia.
Iran have been drawn in Group B along with 2010 World Cup winners Spain, reigning European champions Portugal and Morocco.
Iran will play Lithuania in their final pre-World Cup friendly in Moscow on Friday.
