Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov told Sputnik on Tuesday that he is looking forward to a Russia's victory in their World Cup quarter-final match against Croatia and does not doubt Russia's success.
Russia beat Spain 4-3 on penalties in their round of 16 at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium on Monday morning AEST.
The scores were level at 1-1 after 90 minutes and extra time failed to find a winner. Russia will face Croatia in their quarter-final match at Sochi's Fisht Stadium on Sunday morning.
"I'm looking forward to Russia's match with Croatia and Stanislav Cherchesov's side's victory. I never doubted our team's ability to make it to the semi-finals!" Kadyrov said.
He added that he would very much like to attend all of Russia's matches but the pressure of work did not let him travel outside of the republic.
