England head coach Gareth Southgate is “fantastic,” and very experienced, England forward and captain Harry Kane said on Friday.
“He’s good. I want to play tomorrow, so I better be careful, but he’s been fantastic every since he’s come in. I knew him well from the Under-21’s [team], and we’ve always had a good relationship, we’ve always got on well… He’s had experience in these tournaments, he knows what it’s like… Hopefully we can have this relationship for a long time in the future, and we can keep getting better and better,” Kane told reporters at the press conference ahead of the upcoming quarter-final.
Southgate won 57 caps as a defender with England, and was the coach of the U-21 team in 2013 before becoming England head coach three years later.
England will face Sweden in the quarter-final game in Samara on Saturday.
