BRUSSELS, July 15 (Sputnik) - King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium have congratulated their national football team for winning the third place play-off against England at the World Cup in Russia and will receive the players for the reception in their residence, local media reported on Sunday.
According to the francophone radio station RBTH, the reception will be held in the Royal Castle of Laeken, official home of the Belgian Royal Family, in the Laeken district in north-west of Brussels on Sunday.
Belgium beat England 2-0 on Saturday, with defender Thomas Meunier opening the scoring just four minutes into the game and Eden Hazard doubling Belgium's lead in the 82nd minute.
The Red Devils have achieved their best ever result at a World Cup. They had previously finished fourth at the 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico.
It was earlier reported that Royal Belgian Football Association will replenish the 'coffers' with $ 24.2 Mln after the team's performance at Russia's World Cup. Each member of Belgium squad will receive a bonus of $365,000 and a coach will be paid between $877,000 to $1.2Mln.
Around 15,000 Belgian fans attended the matches of their national team in Russia.
