Samuel Umtiti netted the winner this morning as France beat Belgium 1-0 in their semi-final match.

"President Emmanuel Macron came to greet the players and the staff in the dressing room after the Blues' victory over Belgium!" the French Football Federation posted on Twitter.

Attached were photos showing Macron shaking hands with the players, including the youngest goalscorer at the World Cup, 19-year-old Kylian Mbappe.

On Monday, the Kremlin said that Macron would visit Russia only to watch the semi-final match and was expected to leave the country right afterwards.
