Belgium would not have deserved to lose to Brazil, head coach Roberto Martinez said on Friday night, adding that he was delighted that his side recorded victory in their World Cup quarter-final match.
Belgium defeated Brazil 2-1 to advance to the World Cup semi-finals.
“The game went really well, and then in the last five minutes I felt that we could lose a lot, but the players didn’t deserve [that],” Martinez told reporters, adding that playing against five-time World Cup champions Brazil was very hard psychologically.
The coach added that he was very proud of his team, first of all for their concentration, performance and the belief that they "could beat Brazil.”
In the semi-final on Tuesday, Belgium will face France.
