Around 2.5 million Muscovites watched the 2018 FIFA World Cup match between Russia and Egypt, which was broadcast live on the Russia-1 TV channel.
Russia beat Egypt 3-1 in their second World Cup match in St. Petersburg to all but secure a spot in the knockout stage of the tournament.
According to the survey conducted by the Mediascope research company, a total of 2,493,000 Muscovites aged four and older watched the match, while 4,780,000 people based in the Russian capital watched the broadcast for at least a minute.
The World Cup will continue until July 15, with the matches set to be played across 11 Russian cities. The hosts will take on Uruguay in Samara on June 25 in their final Group A game.
