Brazil defender Miranda, who will captain the team in their final group stage match at the World Cup, said on Tuesday that his team had overcome all the difficulties they had in this summer’s World Cup after beating Costa Rica 2-0 in St. Petersburg on Friday.
“Of course I am happy that I will be the captain in the match with Serbia. But if we win this tournament, my happiness will be unmatched regardless of whether I am the captain or not. I think we overcame all the difficulties after winning the second match. Now we are waiting for the important game with Serbia which will determine our position in the group,” Miranda told journalists.
Brazil are currently top of Group E after beating Costa Rica and drawing 1-1 with Switzerland in their first match at the World Cup.
A draw in their encounter with Serbia on Wednesday will be enough for head coach Tite's side to advance to the knockout stage.
