“A special security regime has been introduced at the [FIFA World Cup] venues. Access to them is granted to the accredited persons and those with personalized fan cards – the Fan IDs,” the press service said.

The measures have been introduced at the World Cup stadiums as well, while security has also been boosted at the entrance to the Fan Zone near the Luzhniki Stadium.

Fire safety measures have also been stepped up in the city, with the Moscow Aviation Center having five helicopters on stand-by.

Moscow is one of the 11 host cities where the 2018 FIFA World Cup will be held from June 14 to July 15. The Russian capital will host a total of 12 matches across two arenas, including the opening game and the final.
