Russia, who thrashed Saudi Arabia 5-0 in the World Cup opener on June 14, will take on Egypt, who lost 1-0 to Uruguay a day later, in St. Petersburg later on Tuesday. If Russia win the match, they will be on the brink of reaching the knockout stage for the first time in history.

"The match is very important both for our team and for Egypt. The stadium will be full. Of course, we all expect a good game and a good result... It won't be easy. We must reach the knockout stage. The group is manageable. Egypt are a good and solid team," Mostovoi said in an interview with Latvian radio station Baltkom.

The 49-year-old,  who played for Spanish club Celta Vigo for eight seasons, also praised the organization of the tournament.

"Everything is on a very high level in terms of stadiums, preparation and organization," he said.
