Lyon reported on Saturday that the negotiations on the transfer of Lyon and France forward Nabil Fekir to Liverpool “went down the drain”.
"We report that the trialogue negotiations with Liverpool and Fekir on the transfer of Lyon captain went down the drain. Lyon decided to end the talks tonight,” Lyon said in a message published on their official website.
Fekir has been capped for Lyon 40 times this season, scoring 23 goals. He is also part of France’s World Cup squad.
Russia will host the 2018 FIFA World Cup from June 14 to July 15, with the games set to be held in 11 cities across the country. France will face Australia, Peru and Denmark in Group C.
