Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said there was no special plan to invite American president Donald Trump to the final match of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia ahead of his meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, which will be held on July 16.
"There is no special plan. The meeting in Helsinki is currently being prepared. This is a serious preparation, you know. Many people are waiting for this meeting," Peskov told journalists when he was asked if Russia planned to invite Trump to the World Cup final match ahead of the Helsinki meeting.
Peskov added that no special invitations were needed.
"No special invitations are needed. You know... that Moscow will welcome any head of state, any government member, any monarch," he said.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup kicked off on June 14 and will continue until July 15, with the matches being played in 11 cities across Russia.
