Mexico goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa said on Saturday that he expected his country to score at least three times and win against Germany on Sunday, despite their opponent being the defending champion and the World Cup favorite.
“We all want to win tomorrow. I see it in the eyes [of the players], the intention to score at least three times because that’s the only way we know how to play football. This is our style, this is our strategy. We know that Germany is a favorite, but in the end it doesn't change anything for us, we spend a lot of time training and preparing for this event [World Cup] and we feel ready and know what to do tomorrow,” Ochoa told journalists.
He added that the entire team would try to play “a perfect game in both defense and attack”, and that “investing themselves” was how Mexico would be able to “achieve the best results.”
Mexico will face defending champions Germany at Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium on Sunday. They are set to play two more Group F matches with South Korea and Sweden on 23 June and 27 respectively.
